This is an exciting and newly created General Manager position within a fast paced, hugely ambitious and growing business.

Client Details

Based on the outskirts of Newport South Wales, my client continue to grow year on year and now part of a larger group they have exciting growth plans.

Description

As the General Manager you will be responsible for leading operations across engineering, manufacturing, sub contract manufacturing, logistics and supply chain. As part of the senior leadership team you will take an active role in setting and then executing the strategy of 2 business units, creating strong links between strategy and financial performance and then taking shared P&L responsibility for their subsequent performance.

The General Manager will drive an efficient and effective operation, ensuring that the quality levels of their product, service and appearance consistently underpin the premium market position that the brands occupy.

You will ensure strong communication links with the workforce regarding strategic direction, expectations together with operational and financial performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Group MD to ensure clear communication exists between the sales and operational elements of the business
  • Ensure efficient and effective operation of workshop & manufacturing based activities of the business and to ensure clear and agreed work processes are in place and adhered to
  • Ensure efficient and effective operation of on-site support to customers and the engineering team ensuring clear and agreed work processes are in place and adhered to
  • Ensure a robust supply chain is in place to underpin the demands of the business
  • Ensure the design / engineering team meets the needs of the business
  • To lead and champion the SHEQ culture of the business in an appropriate manner
  • To lead and champion the quality & accreditations deemed necessary for the business
  • To work closely with the relevant group team on joint initiatives from time to time
  • To ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to facilitate the above

Profile

As a General Manager you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

  • Ideally Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering or business management discipline
  • You will be able to demonstrate a track record gained in a high paced, challenging manufacturing, engineering and or B2B business where service levels are a key market differentiator.
  • Engineering background with operational experience in the engineered industrial products market
  • Customer service driven
  • Implementing, developing and managing a continuous improvement culture
  • A leader and a manager who makes decisions.
  • Someone who wants to make a difference and is prepared to "roll up their sleeves"
  • Must be prepared to be visible to customers and consumers
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with demonstrable ability to influence others
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with strong analytical and problem solving skills

Job Offer

£60,000 to £70,000, pension, company car, bonus, healthcare.
