Partner Financial is working on a retained basis with a large infrastructure business in London to identify a senior individual who is a proven influencer and relationship specialist to support the Group’s leadership team and their respective businesses to drive the use of resource and investment in the Group. Group spend on many key services is centralised across the Head Office and also the various subsidiaries and entities around the world.

As an infrastructure business, the annual spend on services to the business runs into £100m’s and as such the role is complex, multifaceted, has stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including at Executive and also Operational teams, as well as functional specialists and business service leaders. The Group contains many different business models in its various businesses, in different geographies and jurisdictions, each with their own culture and de-centralised leadership.

The role is responsible for four key items:

  • Balancing the conflicting nature of performance criteria across different businesses, such that in order to achieve one group strategy, impacts that of another. As such desensitising and communicating information in a non-political manner will be imperative.
  • Supporting each financial leader in owning their P&L’s and communicating the cost, but also the investment case and value add to that business over certain types of spend. For example, spending £20m on an APP may put budgetary and cash pressure on a P&L and therefore working with those teams to mitigate and prepare for the impact is important.
  • Commercially challenging each of the contracts and supplier arrangements, to ensure that spend is reflected in value and investment and resource are used effectively.
  • Working with functional and business leaders at a central and subsidiary level, to ensure total alignment with Group strategy and business objectives. The role has visibility from the Main Board.

Individuals with current responsibility or very recent expertise in managing large scale operational budgets in large complex businesses with different high-level stakeholders are encouraged to apply. Proven financial expertise around improving commercial contracts and supplier base is essential.
