Norwich City Council is a forward-looking, ambitious and commercially minded organisation who has a long tradition of delivering benefits to the local community, but has so much more planned. It is looking at a number of regeneration and development programmes and is about to embark on a significant change programme across the council, which focuses on empowering, matrix working, and smarter ways of working through the use of technology.

Working as part of the LGSS finance family, but dedicated wholly to Norwich City Council, the Commercial Finance Business Partner is a member of the Finance Management Team and will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer. The role will work with the Corporate Leadership Team and other senior managers to develop, implement and maintain an appropriate commercial strategy for the council.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing commercial financial advice to the Council in order to maiximise its non-tax income streams
  • Undertaking financial modelling of large/complex projects
  • Assisting in financial negotiations with potential private sector partners
  • Undertaking the financial appraisal of potential commercial property acquisitions

To be suitable for the role you need to be a commercial minded, innovative and forward thinking qualified accountant with excellent analytic skills and an understanding of limited company accounting requirements. The ability to influence senior stakeholders decision making  is essential, whilst exposure to investment in property, large scale redevelopment projects or housing is highly desirable.
