With almost 7,000 employees, the European Patent Office (EPO) is one of the largest public service institutions in Europe. Its headquarters are in Munich and it also has offices in Berlin, Brussels, The Hague and Vienna. The EPO was founded with the aim of strengthening co-operation on patents in Europe. Through the EPO's centralised patent granting procedure, inventors are able to obtain high-quality patent protection in up to 44 countries, covering a market of some 700 million people. The EPO is also the world's leading authority in patent information and patent searching.

Vice-President 1 – Patent Granting Process

VP 1 is responsible for managing DG 1, the directorate-general that covers the entire patent granting process from end to end, including receiving sections, search, examination, publication, opposition and all related formalities.

Appointed by the Administrative Council, under the lead of the President, the vice presidents assist the President of the EPO in the implementation of established strategies and policies.

Eligible candidates are required to submit their application in one of the Organisation's official languages (English, French and German). They must include a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae showing nationality of at least one contracting state and the completed application form (available on the website). They must also provide a letter indicating the sponsorship of a Head of Delegation of a Contracting State (www.epo.org/about-us/governance/administrative-council/representatives.html) and/or of the President of the Office. The submission of any further items with a view to clarifying and supporting their application is at the candidate's discretion.

It is intended to hold the interviews in calendar week 38.
