The Commercial Director will join the Board to support the company through the next stage of growth.  Initially working alongside the Chief Executive and founder, they will take over the day to day aspects of the business and free them up to take on a more strategic role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the team of circa 760 remote staff as well as recruitment of new staff and training of existing to provide a clear progression plan
  • Working closely with the team to identify issues and barriers they are facing as a team and in the market place
  • Ensure that marketing activity remains consistent across all regions
  • Achievement of financial targets as well as the protection of the company profit margins
  • Use information gathered to feed into the strategy to drive the growth targets and maintain the success and reputation of the company
  • Manage the relationships with the schools as well as contract renewals
  • Management of each commercial contract bespoke to each school including KPIs and ratios
  • Implementation of a new CRM system and able to analyse the data to make informed commercial decisions
  • Identifying commercial growth opportunities with existing contracts and feeding leads into the sales team and maximizing operating profit
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with the teams to share best practice and identify opportunities within each other’s regions
  • Improve retention of Leisure Assistants and ensure engagement and communication with the wider company is supported
  • Regular spot checks of schools to check front end performance as well as carrying out surveys to measure customer and supplier satisfaction
  • Management of company DSO (day sales outstanding)
  • Management and conversion of new enquiries
  • Contribute to the company strategy to automate the booking system allowing for a more accessible, quick and easy option for clients
  • Meeting with School Leisure and Sport Manager and Regional Managers to understand current trends, issues and areas of development within the company
  • Undertaking responsibility for achieving high standards of customer service and satisfaction
  • Regular travel between school sites and meetings
  • Any other duties deemed suitable by the Company Directors, commensurate with the salary and title of the post

The Candidate:

  • Educated to Level 4 or degree
  • Experience of managing large, remote teams
  • Commercially minded with an ability to identify a profitable opportunity
  • Experienced in sales with an understanding of how to leverage sales, network and create winning relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the education environment, sport or leisure sector an advantage
  • Willing to travel nationally when required
  • A clear understanding and experience of how sales, marketing and social media work in a collaborative way to support the sales function as well as the reputation of the company.
  • A self-starter who is adaptable and quick to learn the model to ensure an impact is visible within the first few months of on boarding.
  • Confident to challenge and instigate detailed discussions about other ideas and opportunities
  • Able to apply strategy, be influential and challenge the status quo to support the high net growth
  • Competent in the use of modern day technology
  • Ability to lead, influence and manage change
  • Commercially minded to ensure efficiency of the process
  • Effective and well developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Willing to travel over a large regional location
  • Ability to form good working relationships with staff, potential schools and community partners.  As well as adapting approach based on target audience
  • Motivated by making a difference to other people’s or community lives
  • A genuine interest and commitment to the promotion and provision of sport, leisure and learning opportunities for young people and local communities
  • Have an open, fair, equitable culture and be able to manage conflict effectively
