An exciting opportunity has arisen within a FTSE 250 client for a Group Head of Learning and Development to join the HR Leadership Team and take full ownership of the Learning and Development strategy and plans for the group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • To work with HR Directors and MDs in the Business Units to ensure effective TNA and planning cycle is embedded into the organisation and supports key business requirements
  • To set and manage the Development budget ensuring effective prioritisation of spend across the Group
  • To ensure maximum benefit is gained from the Apprentice Levy developing appropriate strategies
  • To drive the Group's Digital Learning solutions maximising technology and bringing in engaging and effective blended learning
  • To manage and deploy effective talent mapping, management, development tools and solutions aligned with the strategic direction of the business
  • To manage the Learning Governance process ensuring best quality, value for money and return on investment is in place for Learning and Development
  • To manage the quality of the Learning Solutions whether delivered in house, via the supply chain or via local Subject Matter experts is in line with the Strategy and the ambition of the Group and in line with agreed performance metrics
  • To lead and inspire a team of Learning & Development professionals to create an exciting and engaging Learning Curriculum
  • To constantly be seeking to improve the Learning & Development and Talent function through encouraging suppliers to adopt Learning best practice and new Learning initiatives, be an industry leader and pioneer
  • Ensure compliance against the end-to-end Learning process and ensuring both the Development & Talent Team and wider business are clear as to the "right way of doing things"

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An extensive experience at Leadership level and with time spent specialising in Learning, Development and Talent preferably in a Group HR /Development function.
  • Commercially focused with experience at working with Executive Leadership Teams and other Senior Stakeholders
  • Experience of leadership in a large complex fast paced organisations with significant multimillion £ budget holding responsibility
  • Experience of implementing measures and KPIs for the Learning, Development and Talent interventions
  • Experience of working in a high-risk environment in terms training compliance and record keeping
  • Experience of developing and delivering learning solutions
  • Experience of developing and delivering talent mapping and management interventions
  • Excellent communicator written and oral
  • Team player and supportive of the wider HR Transformation agenda
  • Graduate or Equivalent with CIPD Qualification
  • Psychometric qualification and experience an advantage
