We're acting to appoint a Portfolio Monitoring Director on behalf of an established private equity firm with an excellent, long-term track record. The appointee will pay a pivotal role between the partnership, investment team and external investors, providing an additional layer of analysis to investment performance is easily understood and to aid future decision making.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for understanding businesses, to help professionalise and extend the management reporting and analytical capacity of the firm. You'll report into the Partners and your key area of responsibility will be the firm's investment portfolio. You will be expected to manage the production and delivery of performance reports for the investment professionals, the partnership as well as separate reports for external investors. These reports will explain business performance and allow the firm to better guide its portfolio. Additionally, you'll oversee and manage the production of similar performance reports for external investors. Delivering valuable, insightful, meaningful commentaries and explanations of investee business performance that can be used by the relevant internal and external audiences, will be a crucial measure of the appointee's success. Underpinning robust and insightful opinions on investee business performance will be transparent and reliable data. As such, you'll also need to ensure the right data and metrics is feeding through from the portfolio into the firm's internal systems. Ensuring data integrity and accuracy will therefore also be an important part of the role. As the firm, and therefore its portfolio grows, you will ensure the function scales with it and remains fit for purpose.

The successful candidate will have an excellent academic track record and will be ACA or CFA trained. You must have a minimum 2.1 degree from a top university and could be from one of three specific candidate groups: 

  1. Big 4 or top 6 accounting practice firm - perhaps at the Senior Manager or Director level within a Due Diligence or Strategy function
  2. Private Equity - a similar department or role with a high calibre fund
  3. Financial Controller / Deputy CFO / Senior Finance Business Partner within a large corporate with numerous divisions or subsidiaries
