This key role is with a well-established and highly successful manufacturer of engineered products which are sold throughout the specification market and a network of specialist distributors. The products are used on construction and infrastructure projects and are recognised for their technical excellence, design, quality, reliability and feature on many iconic structures around the world.
The company is privately owned, medium sized and built on solid financial foundations and it is committed to new product development, innovation and providing world-class levels of customer service. It is enjoying significant year-on-year growth with 60% of its output being exported and it can see significant future growth potential.
Reporting to the Managing Director, responsibility is for the leadership, direction and delivery of the company’s international sales growth strategy. It has an established sales subsidiary in Germany, territory sales based engineers in France and Spain, plus a significant network of distributors throughout Europe and the Asian territories.
The focus of the role is on specification sales to the design and consulting communities creating a strong pull-through effect to the distributor network. It involves significant international travel supporting the local sales teams and building effective relationships with distributors is a key element. You will also lead high level sales presentations and negotiations. A high calibre individual with a background in international specification selling and distributor development is required. You will need proven experience in the construction, engineering or specification industry, a good quality degree in engineering (structural, civil or mechanical) and fluency in the German language is essential with others such as French or Spanish being desirable. Your in-depth experience of growing sales through indirect channels will be supported by a progressive international sales management career which has been formed in world-class environments. You will enjoy the hands-on nature of working in an SME, be a self-starter and have the headroom for career growth with the ability to reach the boardroom and contribute to the strategy of the business overall.
