Our client is a fast growing and exciting provider of b2c financial services products and is tearing up the rule book by developing a range of innovative customer-focused propositions that have quickly generated widespread, sector-leading approval ratings. As the employment landscape continues to shift and working practices change large sections of the consumer market are struggling to access affordable lending products. Our client is helping to bridge the gaps that exist in a traditional banking market that is still largely wedded to outdated credit scorecard methodologies, with products that are easy-access, sensibly priced, transparent and fair.
Backed by high profile US private investors the business is growing rapidly and has c 300 staff across four locations, three in the UK. A new CEO and management team has been appointed and a transformation of the business is underway. The final key executive requirement is the recruitment of a high quality CFO who can lead and develop a strong finance team in support of further business growth.
As the business continues to grow it will need to raise further funds from a mixture of existing and new investors (potentially including Private Equity investment) with approximately another £200m to be raised over the next two years. For this reason the successful candidate will also need to have had significant experience as a finance number one in raising various forms of debt and equity finance.
As this is a niche financial services provider candidates will need significant prior experience and knowledge of the consumer financial services sector and will already have worked successfully in an FCA regulated environment. It is anticipated that, in time, if you are not already FCA approved then you will become so, in addition to your existing accounting qualification.
This presents an outstanding opportunity for a high calibre CFO with previous experience in financial services - ideally also someone with private equity experience (including exit if possible) or in capital markets.
Strong commercial skills will be needed and experience of working in a complex business, with various different pricing models and revenue streams is highly desirable.
Whilst the business has grown rapidly this remains a hands-on role and although the CFO will be supported by a strong number two and a high quality team, he/she will still need to understand the detail as well as being a strategic partner to the CEO and the other board members.
