Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust
Non-executive Directors including Chair of the Quality and Performance Committee
Remuneration: £6,000 per year plus travel and subsistence expenses

As part of its succession planning Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust wants to appoint Non-Executive Director including a Chair of the Quality and Performance Committee, to enable the Board to meet the new challenges facing the Trust over the coming years.

The Trust has a well-earned reputation for clinical excellence. It is recognised as a major acute hospital, as it offers many services not normally associated with a District General Hospital. It has a designated cancer centre, and provides Renal and Transplant Services to a population in excess of two million. The Trust hosts the largest Defence Medical Group in the country. In addition it is a major provider of education and training for clinicians in the South East of England.

Non-Executive Directors make an important contribution to the effective running of the Trust. Their role is to help develop strategy and hold the Trust to account, scrutinising performance and the integrity of clinical, financial and other information presented to them. They offer challenge and support, and strengthen engagement with the local community, patients and stakeholders. Evidence of showing leadership and inspiration, resilience in the face of challenge and the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm are essential.

We are keen to speak to people with connections to the area, and with commercial experience, particularly in banking, estates, digital and IT.

As part of this search, we are looking for someone to chair the Quality and Performance Committee. For this role, you will need experience in a Board level role in quality / service improvement with a demonstrable track record of delivering quality improvement at a strategic level. Experience should be from the health and social care sector. Applicants should ideally be from a medical, nursing, clinical or social care background.

The Trust places considerable emphasis on diversity at Board level, and particularly encourages applications from appropriately qualified candidates from all sections of the community, and from people with diverse experience and backgrounds.

Remuneration is currently £6,000 per year plus travel and subsistence expenses.

For further information please email our search partners Green Park on or 020 3145 3433, and ask for Joanna Moriarty.

Closing date Friday, 27 July 2018 at noon.
