Our client, a well-known UK retailer, is undergoing significant transformation and requires a cost reduction expert to identify and to implement changes to their operating model. This person must have experience across multiple retail verticals and must understand the cost drivers to an optimised end to end customer journey.
The exercise must not compromise customer experience so the successful candidate will have evidenced 'cutting the fat' out of an operation without negatively impacting the product or service sold. Candidates should have reduced costs and improved operational efficiency in a retailer with >250 stores and with complex multichannel logistics operations.
This will not be a spreadsheet exercise. However, the individual will be numerate and could be from an operations consulting or an operations development background as well as having had a more traditional operational improvement interim career in retail.
Organisational structure will be a large part of the solution so experience designing and implementing a customer-centric team is highly desirable. You will work closely with HR to embed new ways of working - people, processes and tools - to ensure that the new target operating model is sustainable and that it safeguards, and enhances, the customer experience.
