About Our Client

Orchard Valley Foods Group (OVFG) is specialised in Confectionery, Ingredients and Decorations. The business is primarily B2B but with a growing share of retail and food service customers. The business was acquired by the Orkla Group, a Norwegian conglomerate, in March 2017.

The mainstream confectionery product categories are fudge, sugar strands, non pareils, caramel pieces and marshmallows. The supply chain is based on own production in Sweden, as well as own packaging and mixing production in Tenbury Wells.

The company's value proposition is to be the one-stop-shop speciality ingredient supplier to large industrial businesses within confectionery, bakery, ice cream and snacking.

Job Description

The Business Development Director will be accountable for the following:

  • The delivery of profitable growth
  • Continue to develop current strategic accounts and develop new global accounts
  • Identify new product supply opportunities and establish new and improve existing strategic supplier partnerships
  • Develop and improve existing distributors and enter new export markets either through own sales organisation or distributors
  • Sales team performance and management
  • Integration of acquired companies
  • Full sales and budget responsibility

The Successful Applicant

The Business Development Director will have the following characteristics / experience:

  • Highly entrepreneurial
  • Ability to spot business opportunities and develop strong networks
  • Creative mind in terms of product development
  • Highly driven and motivated
  • Excellent People influencing skills
  • Track record and experience of managing an international sales team
  • Comfortable with a large amount of international travel
  • Food ingredient / FMCG or Food Service experience and contacts would be useful
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
