MCP Consulting Group (MCP) is renowned for excellence and innovation within the Maintenance & Asset Management consulting and training services industry. We are currently seeking a Midlands-based General Manager responsible for the leadership and development of the provision of consultancy and training services in the niche, specialist field of asset management.  

The current CEO is looking for a future successor and is seeking the right candidate to transition into their role within the next 2 years. This newly created role would suit a dynamic and motivated leader, experienced in the consultancy services market and is looking for their next challenge at leadership level. This position offers the right individual with a unique opportunity to own and shape the future of the organisation in collaboration with MCP’s business partners within the UK and Europe.

You will have:

  • A degree-level qualification (business or engineering-related preferred)
  • Credible leadership experience in selling B2B consultancy services within a growing multi-site business
  • Proven success in developing and implementing sound strategies for business change and growth
  • Experience in leading, motivating and engaging a small team of consultants, trainers and support staff through a transparent approach to the future vision of the organisation
  • Exemplary client relationships skills with demonstrable experience working with training, HR and Engineering functions within client businesses, particularly within large corporate environments
  • Sound commercial acumen including KPI reporting & management, ability to understand and make decisions based on accounting principles such as P&L statements, cash flow & balance sheets
  • A positive approach to proactive prospecting to identify new client opportunities within the target marketplace (UK & Overseas)
  • Excellent presentation and client relationship skills with the ability to sell high profile consulting projects, attending client pitches as required
  • A deep knowledge of external factors including market trends and client needs to successfully develop new products and services
  • Foreign language capability is desirable, but not essential
  • A full driving licence as frequent travel will be required as part of the role

  • Ability to engage directly and communicate effectively at all levels including highly developed listening and influencing skills
  • Passion for developing the skills and knowledge of teams to improve business and individual performance
  • Great customer focus and relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritise work effectively in order to meet deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills

Salary & Benefits

We are offering an excellent package for this role as detailed below:

  • A basic salary of £85k+ per annum
  • Business performance-related bonus of up to 5%
