Hays Senior Finance is delighted to be working with Manchester Health Academy to appoint a Strategic Director of Finance and Corporate Services. Manchester Health Academy opened on September 2009 and is sponsored by Manchester University NHS Foundation trust. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and to accommodate a growing student population they are currently expanding further with a £10 million project set to conclude in September 2018. The academy is a thriving, successful and increasing ambitious organisation not only do they pride themselves on ensuring their students leave with high aspirations and knowledge and skills to achieve their dreams but have strong links to the community. They have a community sports facility which is attached to the academy and is also home to Brooklands library which the local community can access.
Your new role
We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate who has both excellent financial and management skills to undertake this strategic role. The role will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational and strategic direction and the management and leadership of all aspects of Finance, HR, ICT, Payroll, Procurement, Site and Facilities Management, Student Support, Community, Marketing, Business Planning, Performance Reporting, Risk Management, H&S, Legal and Insurance. The role is accountable to the Principal and the Chair of the Board of Governors.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of finance including budget and forecasting, statutory accounts, risks and reserves, policies and procedures, cashflow, fixed assets, and engaging with all non-financial budget holders. In addition to the financial responsibilities you will also be responsible for contracts and procurement which includes the management of tendering and contracting services including catering, cleaning and grounds maintenance, you will be responsible for taking a proactive lead in ensuring that Value for Money is continuously received for all contracts entered into and payments are made timely. Ensuring all Corporate Service areas are able to effectively support the needs of the academy you will consistently be reviewing all systems in relation to HR and ICT.
This role plays a key part of the senior leadership team within the Academy at such an exciting time to join whilst the academy grows you will forge important relationships with all colleagues including the Board of Governors.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking to appoint an outstanding qualified accountant who has the ambition to assist the academy in their current expansion project. This is a key role within the organisation that will demonstrate significant leadership experience in a financial management positon. You will have a proven track record of successful management and business skills and have experience of managing support functions including HR,ICT and estates.
Experience within education is desirable but we are willing to consider candidates from a housing background also. Project experience and a good understanding of current developments and challenges in education would be a distinct advantage.
