Many of the diseases that affect human health have been cured as a result of medical research, but there will always be more to do and there are areas that receive little support – and people’s lives that see no improvement. That’s where we step in. The Medical Research Foundation is dedicated to improving health through medical research.
The Medical Research Foundation is overseen by a Board of Trustees who have ultimate responsibility for directing the charity, its assets and its activities. We are looking to complement the current strengths of our Board with an independent Trustee who is financially qualified with board-level financial management experience. Ideally you will have had experience of the principles of corporate governance in the public or charitable sector.
The Medical Research Foundation is committed to promoting equality and diversity opportunities and we welcome applications from all aspects of society. We would particularly welcome applications from women and people from the BAME communities as these characteristics are currently under-represented on the Board.
The Board meets five times a year (including a strategy away day) usually in Central London. The position is voluntary and not remunerated, although reasonable expenses are paid.
The appointment is expected to commence in June 2018 for a three-year term, in the first instance.
