Director, Strategic Programmes
1 day left
As Director of Strategic Programmes, you will be at the heart of the Finance and Military Capability area of the Ministry of Defence; a joint civil/military organization responsible for defining and delivering the Department’s budgetary resources, military capability needs and balance of investment decisions. This post leads on delivering a £1Bn/year portfolio of military capabilities and is responsible for delivering wider strategic outcomes across the Defence programme, including international and industrial objectives.
The post is responsible in the Head Office for delivering the National Shipbuilding Strategy and for working with Defence and wider Government on future industrial sector strategies. The role seeks to provide the Department with greater ability to leverage investment across the Defence programme in order to maintain choice and deliver military operational advantage, and increasingly to support wider strategic objectives.
You will also be responsible for delivering wider objectives across defence by setting a strategy for delivering international cooperation and industrial sector relations.
This is a challenging and complex role, requiring a wide range of strategic planning, capability management and policy skills. Each issue on the agenda requires joining the dots of disparate objectives and working across an incredibly wide stakeholder community. It requires a clear vision and understanding of the range of Departmental objectives at stake, a careful analysis of the options and implications, and sound judgement of how to achieve the best balance across a range of often competing objectives and outcomes.
