The Business: My client is a market leader in the provision of business critical support services with a dominant position in the UK and an increasing presence on the continent. With a track record of service excellence and the ability to adapt and accommodate fluctuating customer demands like no other operator in their sector, the business continues to enjoy a sustained period of growth and significant profitability.

Overview: The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in the continued transformation of the finance function. They will be closely involved in shaping the finance team and, as the business partner of the Chief Financial officer, will be expected to support and lead the implementation of the corporate strategy through the production and management of key financial information and efficiency, including post acquisition integration.

Overall Purpose: To direct and oversee all financial activities, including preparing financial reports and forecasts/budgets for Board and management, reporting to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop & motivate the finance team
  • Take the lead in preparing the annual operating plan and other strategic planning
  • Support the CFO in delivering the plan and assessing progress towards achieving plan
  • Member of the Operating Board
  • Provide support to the CFO, CEO & Board on M&A activity
  • Provide advice and guidance regarding financial strategy, including identifying key financial risks to the business and how to best mitigate/manage both, in the UK & Internationally
  • Review and oversee all internal procedures and controls and ensure fit for purpose
  • Present financial information/reports to the board, ensuring quality and integrity of the information across revenues, costs, balance sheet and cash flows
  • Assist the CFO in managing shareholder and other stakeholder relationships
  • Assess the Company’s outsourcing arrangements in relation to finance, and manage providers regarding efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure the Company complies with all its financial and legal responsibilities

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified CA
  • Experience of working at FD level, ideally managing resources both in the UK & Internationally
  • Exposure to large finance teams spanning financial reporting, treasury, tax and management accounting
  • Experience of structuring, negotiating and managing partnering relationships / service contracts
  • Experience of contributing to shareholder value, for example in relation to managing growth through M&A
  • Ability to promote strong compliance culture and high integrity generally
  • Strong relationship with, and ability to support & challenge, the CFO, Board and operational management team
  • The effective assessment and management of risk
  • Excellent communication skills – with the board and across the business as a whole
  • Wider people skills, particularly the ability to develop and lead a high-calibre, high performing team
  • Preferably some experience of working with business experiencing continual and significant change

Remuneration – Market led. 6 Figure base salary, bonus, benefits package and share options
