This long term permanent career opportunity has arisen for an experienced engineer to work on a broad range of plant commissioning projects for a major multi-national manufacturer which has a large footprint of sites throughout the UK, Europe and the Nordics.

You will form part of a high quality senior engineering group-wide resource and have responsibility for a range of project activity initially focused on the UK arising from major capital investment programmes, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement activities. Working as part of a team your role will be to project manage the mechanical elements of new investments in state of the art equipment at plant level. The role is varied in complexity, duration and geography and it will involve short periods on site of duration on a regular basis with further activity following on at your base in the UK.  Longer term this role could involve projects further afield in USA, Far East and Australasia and clearly given the size and spread of the Group the career potential going forward for the successful candidate is significant.

A high calibre individual who combines the technical skills and headroom to do more is required. You will need to be a degree qualified mechanical engineer, probably with Chartered status, with a strong hands-on expertise and significant project management experience in large complex automated or semi-automated process industry or manufacturing environments.  Experience in process hardware such as pressure vessels, pipework, structures, electro-mechanical systems, materials handling and robotics are all relevant and important and you will have been involved on projects with a value of £2m+ and also have the flexibility and maturity to handle a portfolio of work in parallel.

Early career experience will have been within a large world-class manufacturing group and you will now be looking for the senior level opportunities longer term which this Group can offer. You will also need to have excellent communications skills and the ability to work under your own initiative and combine this with a “can do” attitude and commercial common sense. UK location for this role is ideally in the SW Midlands and relocation assistance can be provided where necessary.

The benefits package is very comprehensive and includes an attractive negotiable base salary and is as expected of a recognised global manufacturer and will reflect the fact that the client would like to attract the best talent available for this key role.
