Chair - Finance & Policy Committee
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, BACP, is a 45,000-strong membership organisation of counselling professionals that is passionately driven by the belief that counselling changes lives. BACP is deeply committed to the regulation, further advancement and championing of counselling across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Headquartered in Leicestershire, we play a critical role supporting the counselling profession, upholding the highest possible standards and demonstrating, through critical research and evidence-based communications, the value of counselling to key influential decision makers.
BACP has a strong leadership and ambitious strategy for the future, with the Board of Governors and impeccable governance at its heart. To further develop a highly effective and robust board, and specifically to strengthen the area of Finance and Policy, we are looking to appoint a Chair of the Finance & Policy Committee, who will also sit on the Board as a Trustee of the Association.
We require a Committee Chair with sound financial and business acumen, performance monitoring experience and true strategic vision. Alongside, you will be the kind of person who will enthusiastically devote time, creativity and excellent independent judgment to provide real insight and sound decision making. With an accounting or financial degree, or equivalent professional qualification, you will have extensive experience within the financial sector gained within a commercial and/or not-for-profit environment, ideally at a board level, and operate with the utmost integrity.
Experience of being a Chair and managing committee members is preferred however prospective first time Chairs with a successful non-executive and executive track record at a senior or board level combined with significant leadership experience will also be welcomed.

The role is not remunerated, however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Commitment will be up to four Committee and four Board of Governors meetings per year.
