As Sales Director/Director of New Business, you will be responsible for delivering the annual, new business target for this market leading B2B organisation.

Inspiring, leading, organising and coaching a team of 25, you will enjoy a role that blends strategic thinking, proposition development and new business sales conversion.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • End to end responsibility for all high value new business revenue, from strategic opportunity identification, through to delivery of signed contracts
  • Developing robust, logical and actionable strategies to deliver high-value, new business across:
    • New clients - mainly medium to large corporates, buying groups and public sector organisations
    • New/incremental revenue streams with existing customers
  • Provide thought leadership to the wider sales team on best practice for new business activity
  • Identify and frame potential strategic new business opportunities
  • Achieve/exceed new business targets with a primary focus on high value accounts - those with recurring multi £m value in excess of £5m p/a
  • Ongoing identification of new business targets and ensuring the optimal approach is established to maximise the chances of conversion through effective pipeline building and management
  • Working closely with marketing and category teams to ensure the appropriate propositions are being developed in support of the new business activity

Candidate profile:

  • Inspirational sales leader with a proven track record in a B2B environment
  • New business focus (a hunter as opposed to a farmer), with a proven track record in securing large, contracted accounts in a comparable business environment
  • Disciplined and process-led sales leader, capable of implementing best in class sales behaviours around pipeline building and management
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, coach and inspire a sizeable team (c25)
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and critical thinking skills, ideal for establishing and implementing successful sales strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and stakeholders both internal and external
  • Huge levels of gravitas and exceptional relationship building skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills – great in front of customers
  • Previous experience of high value customer negotiations and a track record of securing large-scale and complex contracts as a result of formal tenders
  • Demonstrably able to influence cross-functionally, with a challenging but collegiate mind-set
  • Experience of, and an affinity with, food and/or foodservice is essential, even if this was much earlier in your career
