Our client is an international Oil & Gas company focused on production and exploration in growth markets that offer compelling investment opportunities. With a plan to rapidly acquire a portfolio of assets across international territories, leveraging regional expertise and proven access to capital. An existing international footprint provides a strong cash-flow and provides a platform for further consolidation.

A newly created role has been identified to lead and manage all aspects of financial and management accounting and financial controls for the Group.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and presentation, for the approval of the CFO and Board of Directors, an annual Financial Plan and associated budgets, plans, investor information and all other financial and business documents as may be required from time to time
  • Implementation of effective controls and systems in the Company and Group Companies, at the head and regional offices, with which to report the current performance of the business against the Financial Plan and relevant budgets. Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts for the Company on a timely and accurate basis, as well as ad hoc financial analysis of performance.
  • Regulation, supervision and implementation of a timely, full and accurate set of accounting records reflecting the Company’s activities in a manner commensurate with the relevant legislation and regulation in the UK or overseas operation of the firm and subject to internal guidelines set from time to time by the CFO and Board of Directors
  • Alerting and warning the CFO and Board of Directors regarding any irregularity, lack of compliance, lack of adherence and problems, whether actual or potential, concerning the financial systems, the financial operations, the financing plans, the accounting, the audits, the budgets and any other matter of a financial nature or which could or does have a financial or compliance implication
  • Implementation of continuous financial audit and control systems to monitor performance, flow of funds, the adherence to budget, the expenditures, the income, the cost of sales and other budgetary items
  • Running and providing feedback on the financials and tax assumptions, relating to the company’s Business Development processes and individual projects at the various stage gates in the company’s approvals process and in formal submissions to the Board of Directors
  • Preparation in a timely and accurate manner all financial statements and reports as required by all pertinent laws and regulations in the territories of operations and as deemed necessary and demanded from time to time by the CFO and Board of Directors
  • Collaboration with and coordination of the activities of outside suppliers of financial services hired or contracted, including accountants, auditors, financial consultants, banks and other financial suppliers
  • Initiation of or engagement in all manner of activities, whether financial or other, conducive to the financial health, the growth prospects and the fulfilment of investment plans including: Project Finance & refinancing, investor relations, credit control / invoicing / cash management
  • Contribution to the company’s strategy and development plans, as a member of the head office team

Qualifications, experience and skills – essential/desired:

  • Qualified accountant with proven experience operating at a Senior Manager level
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Demonstrable experience working in the Oil & Gas sector
  • Ability to balance complex detail with wider commercial matters
  • Experience establishing new processes and procedures
  • Excellent presentational skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Sound problem solving skills and a creative approach with the ability to develop new ideas
  • Keen ambition to learn and develop
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and organise both work and people to tight deadlines
