Eton Bridge Partners is proud to support one of the UK’s largest infrastructure businesses in their search for a new Treasury Director, to be based out of their head office in Sussex. The Treasury Director job is newly created, and represents a fantastic opportunity for a current No.2 of Treasury to step into their first No.1 role, or alternatively for an experienced No.1 Treasurer to apply their experience in a new environment.

Our client manages infrastructure supporting over 7 million customers across the UK. With £4 billion of external debt, shareholder loans of £350 million, credit ratings with all three agencies, a large credit facility, and a planned £500 million of re-finance, effective and strategic Treasury management is a key element of the success of this organisation. The organisation is friendly, with an adult culture, and has ambitious plans to grow over the next 5 years.

About The Role

Due to expansion, a full time Treasurer is required to lead all treasury activities of the organisation. This is a newly created role and as such offers considerable opportunities for the successful candidate to add value in this complex organisation.

Organisational Relationships

Reports to: CFO and Finance Committee

Key Strategic Responsibilities:

  • To ensure adequate funding of all the organisation's functions
  • Develop short and long term funding strategy
  • Develop treasury reporting and cash flow forecasting
  • Minimise interest costs and achieve a cost of capital below regulatory benchmarks
  • Ensure financing of new projects

Key Corporate Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Prepare and oversee delivery of Group funding strategy
  • Lead advisory role on the Finance Committee
  • Lead capital markets funding for regulated businesses
  • Secure financing for unregulated activities
  • Manage treasury operations and ensure compliance with key controls and manual
  • Develop cashflow reporting for all corporate entities
  • Maximise interest earned on cash
  • Develop treasury/financial risk management framework
  • Manage daily cash balances

Candidate Profile

Experience Required:

  • Financial background, evidence of maintaining appropriate and effective financial controls
  • Significant experience of treasury management in a major organisation with a similar size of debt
  • Track record of arranging debt financing


  • Thorough understanding of derivatives, hedging, investment bank account management, pension funds and operation of financial markets


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent – finance or accounting desirable
  • ACT qualified


  • Highly numerate; a mathematical degree or similar is highly advantageous. Able to analyse and present data, draw accurate conclusions and communicate key messages succinctly
  • Well developed communication skills; skilled and credible in presenting material to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
  • A strategic thinker who is also able to operate at a tactical level as required
  • An effective team player
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Able to manage internal and external stakeholders with tact and diplomacy; commercially and politically aware
