The Finance Applications Project Manager position reports to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This role will take full responsibility for the project management and implementation of the Group’s finance based systems. The role will work alongside the Group Financial Controller, the regional finance leads and the SAP Business One implementation team. This role supports the Director of FP&A together with all of the business units.

Job Description

Directly responsible for the well-being of each project, the successful candidate will have the ability to break each project down into workable steps, assign the various steps to the relevant stakeholders and hold this owners to account.

Key to this is going to be:

  • Driving a project to completion, on time and using the available resources
  • Reporting on project progress; giving regular updates, as appropriate
  • Directing “traffic” effectively and foreseeing issues before they arise
  • Implementing a strong programme/project governance with clear roles/responsibilities and ownership for each activity to ensure a successful completion of all projects
  • Influencing stakeholders at all levels and driving through a strong project structure, with an approach that is able to measure success and mitigate risks with all projects, from start to finish
  • Ensure the FP&A Director is well-informed of the status of projects and serve as liaison between the project teams, internal development teams and the business
  • Become a trusted Advisor to key stakeholders within the Business
  • Close liaison with the software development manager and Business analysis team
  • Define and agree criteria for project success
  • Ensure that solutions delivered align with business and functional strategies
  • Prioritisation of tasks ensuring workload is managed
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives under direction of the FP&A Director and other senior staff
  • Adhere to best working practices as defined by industry standards

Skills/Experience:

  • Degree educated in a numerate discipline
  • Member of the Project Management Institute or other recognised project management body
  • Experience of and working with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum
  • Deep experience in implementing global, multi-site, financial application systems or ERP systems – preferably SAP or SAP Business One
  • Experience with Purchase-to Pay solutions
  • Experience with custom development programmes and project cycles
  • Experience implementing SAAS solutions in the finance function
  • Part or fully Qualified Professional accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA) preferred
  • Demonstrates the relevant technical/professional skills related to the role
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, clients and customers
  • Ability to interpret, analyse and research problems, and make decisions on an appropriate course of action using their own initiative
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Excellent time management skills
