Head of Planning and Analysis

I am working on behalf of a prestigious specialist banking and asset management group to find an interim Head of Planning and Analysis. In this role you will lead the Planning and Analysis team in supporting the business and helping to drive the development of reporting and management information across the division and the corresponding infrastructure to support this. This role involves direct engagement with the CEO, COO and Business Heads to understand the drivers of current and future business performance and to develop financial and non-financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop an understanding of the current financial reporting infrastructure, processes & timelines
  • Work with the CIB businesses and key finance stakeholders to understand drivers of business performance and the requirements of management information
  • Design and implement changes to current reporting to address business needs as well as introducing new perspectives and industry best practices into the CIB reporting routines
  • Build routines to ensure that the desired information can be produced to a consistently high standard on a periodic basis (monthly / quarterly)
  • Engage IT teams to automate and improve reporting routines. Ensure high quality analysis.
  • Support the development of divisional pages for the main Plc board pack
  • Work closely with management and the business units analysts to provide a high quality budgeting and forecast process to ensure the process is completed efficiently and on time
  • Manage the Planning and Analysis team on a day to day basis, ensuring timelines are all met and that team workload is appropriately distributed across the team

Drive the development of the individual team members, including conducting performance development reviews.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Strong Management accountant with extensive experience in managing a Planning and analysis team in a constantly changing environment
  • Financial and Management Accounting knowledge for a banking or trading business
  • Proven track record of bringing about improvements and enhancements to management reporting at a senior level
  • Understanding of Capital Market business products and processes
  • Understanding of relevant risks and controls
  • Intermediate Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Knowledge of Hyperion or other MIS systems, and knowledge of MI systems which can enhance delivery to the business
  • Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory)
