ELEXON are hiring a PMO Lead on a permanent basis, to lead on all the reporting, governance and milestone tracking across the project portfolio.

ELEXON compares how much electricity generators and suppliers say they will produce or consume with actual volumes. They work out a price for the difference and transfer funds. This involves taking 1.25 million meter readings every day and handling £1.5 billion of their customers' funds each year.

PMO Lead - Utilities - London

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head of Planning and Performance with activities required to develop its capabilities including setting up the PMO Vision, Mission and Goals, by providing inputs or perhaps even leading in some tasks such as creation of PMO charter.
• Specifically, in conjunction with the Head of Planning and Performance:
  • Support the implementation of Portfolio Management within ELEXON, including the creation of change categories and the criteria to prioritise change;
  • Support resource planning and allocation across the business, and specifically for the Planning and Performance and Project Delivery team, identifying and escalating resource contentions;
  • Establish and guide the selection and prioritisation of projects to ensure alignment with organisational strategy;
  • Assess and recommend project prioritisation to the Portfolio Review Board, using Portfolio Assessment Criteria;
  • Develop and deliver accurate portfolio reporting, while providing timely assessment of the portfolio performance and forecasts;
  • Provide timely and consistent communication to stakeholders on progress, impacts and changes associated with management of the portfolio;
  • Prepare a monthly Portfolio Review Board pack;
  • Monitor and manage the Portfolio Control Log and Inter-Project Dependency Matrix and
  • Identification and escalation of portfolio risks, issues and dependencies, as required.

Profile

Position Requirements:

• Proven experience in a similar role, especially in preparing and tracking project and portfolio reporting and / or portfolio prioritisation and resource management
• Experience of working in a bimodal (Waterfall and Agile) delivery organisation
• Experience of working with external suppliers and service providers
• Experience of working in technology as well as business change projects and programmes
• Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
• Qualification in recognised project management methodologies, plus significant knowledge of project and portfolio planning tools
• Good understanding of the IT & Business Change processes
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with different levels of stakeholders
• Effective influencing and negotiation skills
• Able to facilitate meetings - e.g. planning, lessons learned, peer review
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
• Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
• Advanced user of MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Skilled in producing high quality PowerPoint presentations, laying out information clearly and concisely
