An international food manufacturing company has a requirement for an interim Quality Assurance Director, who will report directly to the CEO or the Deputy CEO.

Role and Responsibilities

As interim QA Director your aim will be to ensure a good and efficient QA-function in the Company with competent and well-motivated staff – meeting the requirements and expectations of all internal as well as external stakeholders.

The longer-term objective is to turn QA into an important competitive advantage.

Your main priority will be to ensure that the QA foundation and – key deliverables to internal and external customers are met daily.

Secondly, the following tasks must continue and be delivered:

• Validation of specifications (Raw material specifications, customer specifications, internal specifications)
• Supplier evaluation
• Implementation of QA management system D4

Monitoring and reacting on the established QA KPIs is a key deliverable for the QA director, and until D4 is implemented this shall be done in the existing structure. Key stakeholders are the managements at the production units.     

This is an interim role based in Scandinavia for 6 to 8 months with extensive travel. 

The daily rate will be dependent on experience.

The Desired Candidate:

The interim QA Director will have:

• Significant experience from managing a QA-organization in a manufacturing industry, preferably food manufacturing (meat, fish, dairy) or pharma/medico
• Experience from working with QA in an international multi-site production company
• Experience with QA strategy development and execution
• Good experience with food production processes and products
• Good knowledge of quality requirements and compliance with governmental regulations
• Good experience from working with QA management systems QMS, GMP, GLP, including interpretation of regulations, standards requirements and procedures, Quality KPIs, etc.
• Comprehensive experience with audits and certification
• Experience with incidents’ management and crisis management
• Good knowledge of one or more QA management systems
• Strong people management and change management experience
• Experience from management in a cross-border/multicultural organization

The Interim QA Director must also have proven skills and results leading an QA organization also on a more operational level – it is essential to know what tasks and challenges the QA managers are facing daily, so that he/she can support them in the best possible way. Also – when needed – the QA Director must be able to stand up for the team and help them navigate in the demands and requirements that Operations and customers have.
