NCVO

Chief Executive

Location: Society Building, 8 All Saints Street, London N1

Salary: £141,000 pa

Closing date: Friday 15 March 2019

NCVO is the largest network for charities and volunteering. An authoritative and influential source of information and expertise, we represent and support over 14,000 member organisations, from the biggest household-name charities to the smallest community groups.

We are now looking for a new chief executive to bring a fresh approach and radical thinking. This leadership task cannot be understated. The shape and role of the voluntary sector is changing. It is facing a myriad of new opportunities and challenges in the face of increased demand, technological advancement, shifting demographics, an ambiguous economic outlook and possible political and societal upheaval. The importance of values, inclusive leadership and the value of collaboration are just some of the significant themes emerging as possible solutions. NCVO needs to reflect on such challenges and assist the voluntary sector to address them.

An exceptional leader; you are politically adept, customer-focused and commercially sharp. Your ability to lead, to inspire and to galvanise the voluntary sector in an open, honest and transparent way will be critical. Knowing when to listen and when to challenge, applying independent thought and careful judgement, you will champion creative and constructive debate, and encouraging diverse thinking.

We have no preconceived ideas of who this leader will be but are clear that the role is far more than a list of qualifications, achievements or networks. For that reason, we want to encourage interest from as wide a range of talented individuals as possible. We particularly welcome applicants from groups which are underrepresented at senior levels in the voluntary sector.
