Job Details

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of c£1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) sites at Denmark Hill in Camberwell and at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.

King’s College Hospital is currently delivering an ambitious financial efficiency programme for 2018/19 and beyond with the aim to achieve long-term financial sustainability. The Trust appointed a substantive CFO, Lorcan Woods, in July 2018 and over the last 4 months the Finance Department has been undertaking an exciting Finance Transformation programme.

The Director of Financial Operations reports into the CFO and is a key strategic position to enable King’s College Hospital to respond appropriately to a dynamic and complex financial environment. You will have corporate responsibility for and provide day-to-day leadership of the Operations Support and Technical Finance teams. Having experience of transforming Financial Control environments will be advantageous as will having the desire to modernise the function itself.

The successful candidate must be a robust, credible, professionally qualified accountant with exemplary leadership skills, high standards and strong attention to detail. You must be a naturally strategic thinker, and a confident, clear communicator to enable you to build effective relationships and influence challenging individuals at all levels, in and out of the organisation. Your significant post-qualification experience will ideally have been gained from within the NHS, with experience in a senior Financial Control role. The role will sit on the audit committee and so you will have the gravitas and confidence to influence at that level.

A desire to be part of an exciting future for one of the country’s premier Foundation Trusts along with an energy and passion to drive forward change is a must for any applicant.

Although application deadline is Friday 15th February at midday, we encourage early applications. Please note – panel interviews will be held on week commencing Monday 11th March.
