Essex is on a significant change journey and this role will help to embed digital technology at the centre of how we operate. Our aim is to improve outcomes for citizens by delivering evergreen, sustainable and cost-effective technology to colleagues across Essex County Council.

This is an opportunity that demands a well-informed technical understanding, and the ability to quickly evaluate current and emerging digital innovations. But it’s much more than a technical role. You’ll need to assure of your ability to lead culture change, encouraging better integration between our technology workforce and the services they support. This means the ability to translate system changes into meaningful outcomes for different service areas – balancing individual requirements with the need for consistency across the organisation. It’s essential that you offer the strategic vision to challenge others to think differently and add value at all levels, and that your appetite for innovation is grounded by a pragmatic approach that will win trust and bring others with you.
