UIA is a mutual insurance company with over 120 years’ experience of providing great value, high quality insurance to member of trade unions and other like- minded customers within the general public.
UIA is now looking for an experienced Non- Executive Director (or recent Executive) with solid financial experience, preferably gained as an Actuary within the insurance personal lines sector. Knowledge of and experience of risk management as well as direct involvement in the implementation of preparedness for the Solvency II regime, will also be an advantage.
Whilst Actuarial experience is desirable, the ideal candidate will possess other commercial knowledge such as previous responsibility for a functional area in their capacity as an Executive Director. Knowledge of and experience within the mutual financial services sector will also be an advantage.
The position calls for strong commercial acumen and leadership skills as well as the ability to deliver sound independent judgement but work within a team in a manner that is beneficial to the Company. The ability to commit at least 3 days per month to the fulfillment of the role will be required, to include attendance at Board/ Committee meetings and preparation time.
