Our Head of Strategic Finance will play an important role in the creation of the CMA’s new finance and commercial team, developing new policies and practices, implementing and developing the CMA’s ERP system and creating a team ethos of customer excellence and high expectations around service delivery. You’ll work closely with our Director of Finance and Commercial to provide strategic financial advice and associated financial/performance reporting to the CMA’s Board and Executive. Other key responsibilities will include leading our approach to risk awareness and mitigation and implementing a new ‘project based’ accounting process, supporting and advising colleagues on this new approach. You’ll play a vital role in business planning, ensuring that it is underpinned by sound financial analysis and budgeting. You will also have the opportunity to take on the responsibility of Deputy DSO (Departmental Security Officer), which is a statutory function of a public body – support will be provided to enable you meet the requirements of this function.
This role offers a compelling mix of strategic and operational management and will suit an experienced, qualified (CCAB) finance professional keen to develop their skills and experience in a senior role at the corporate centre of an organisation. You should already have experience of reporting to Committees or Boards and understand the dynamics of working at this level. You should be an effective advocate for change, encouraging ongoing improvement from colleagues and creating the right working environment for others to perform to the best of their potential while developing their expertise and capacity.
