A challenging and dynamic opportunity has arisen for the post of Head of Information Management Department (IMD) to effectively lead and maintain East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service’s (ESFRS) IMD function through a period of significant change.
This will be a key position as the organisation transitions to a new delivery model. The successful candidate will have a blend of excellent management and operational Information and Communications Technology (ICT) delivery track record combined with the ability to maintain a cohesive approach to business as usual in the context of significant transformation. The ability to maintain a strategic perspective throughout this period and provide the business and the IMD team with IMD leadership, stability and a pragmatic approach will be of critical importance.
As part of the role, the post holder will develop and maintain internal and external relationships to ensure all IMD operations and projects are delivered on time and within budget, ensuring the continued business continuity and security of the organisation’s information management systems, the effectiveness of the IMD team, sustaining the quality of service delivery to the organisation, and meeting all agreed performance and quality standards.
The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge of senior corporate business management working, including budgetary control at middle management level. Knowledge and experience of business management, including compliance of business services to quality standards, performance management and audit regimes is also essential.
Additionally, the post holder will have considerable experience of management of an ICT/Information Management service including technical management, support and delivery, as well as demonstrating extensive evidence of delivering ICT transformation or transition programmes within a diverse organisation operating across multiple sites. The new Head of IMD will have demonstrable experience of supporting the business within an enterprise architecture and unified communications environment. He or she will be able to confidently draw on both their own knowledge of new technologies and advancements in areas such as infrastructure, device management and applications management, ideally within a Fire and Rescue environment, whilst effectively utilising the expert input of technology specialists within the existing IMD team.
The ability to travel throughout the country to national venues to attend business meetings, with the possibility of overnight stays, is a requirement of the post.
