Charity Bank - ‘Lending for Good’
We are a social purpose bank, providing loans to charities and other social sector organisations that address society's needs and so mitigating market failures in their access to term debt, see www.charitybank.org. We are authorised to take deposits by the Prudential Regulation Authority (‘PRA’) and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the PRA.
We do this with the support of depositors and investors who want to encourage a more responsible and transparent use of their money.
We recently received a commitment from Big Society Capital to provide new capital to support growth in our lending activity and achievement of financial sustainability, with the aim of taking our balance sheet from £102 million today to some £310 million by the end of 2018.
Although we ceased to be a charity in 2013, the charitable objects in place at our establishment in 2002 remain unchanged.
We are now seeking to appoint a new Non-Executive Director, who is a qualified accountant and will be a member of the Board’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
You will bring extensive financial services experience and have the desire to assist our sector and, preferably, some knowledge and understanding of it.
As a Non-Executive Director you will contribute to the Board as it gives strategic direction to management, setting strategy and overall policy, defining goals and setting targets, and evaluating performance against them, while staying true to our mission and our values.
As Charity Bank works within and for the charity and social sector, all Non-Executive Directors are voluntary and unpaid.
