The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) provides a dedicated site armed response capability for the nuclear industry, with operational and support units based at licensed nuclear sites. Together with site operators and carriers, the Constabulary shares responsibility for the protection of nuclear material and facilities and for the safe and secure movement of nuclear material within the UK and internationally. As Business Director you will work within the CNC’s Executive Team to the Civil Nuclear Police Authority (CNPA). This corporate body, established under the Energy Act 2004 is responsible for securing the maintenance of an efficient and effective Civil Nuclear Constabulary.
The CNC has a work force of 1500 officers and police staff, an operating budget of £100m, is nationally based and is currently going through a major transformation programme designed to drive people, process and systems improvement to support the operation. To deliver this exciting and challenging programme we are looking to appoint a senior non – uniformed Business Director to be a key part of our senior executive team.
You will provide leadership of the Constabulary’s core finance, planning and performance, procurement, IT and estates functions, you will manage the implementation of the shared services project into the CNC and deliver the CNC’s next generation IT solution. Regular contact with both government departments and industry colleagues to ensure that the Constabulary delivers its mission will be a key feature of this important role, so exceptional influencing and representational skills will be a pre-requisite.
Experience of driving a strong performance culture across an organisation which is geographically spread, a track record of delivering transformational change and extensive knowledge of programme management will also be critical.
