The Finance Director’s role at Worksop College is one that would be expected in any busy and thriving independent boarding school. The role reports to the Headmaster of the School and through him to the Board of Governors.

The Finance Director has direct access to the Governors and is required to attend and report to their Full Governors’ Meetings and the Finance and General Purposes Committee in consultation with the Headmaster. As a member of the Leadership Team at Worksop College in addition to an extended Leadership Group for the College and the Prep School, and working in close co-operation with the Head at all times, the role is to provide strategic direction and leadership with regard to the finances of this multi-million pound business and to manage the leaders of other support function activities.  He or she will ensure they are carried out in an efficient, effective and timely manner and in accordance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.

The Finance Director is supported by a management team comprising the Operations Director, Company Accountant and an extended team including the Finance Manager,  Head Groundsman, Catering Manager, Household Manager, Purchase Ledger Clerk, Billing Officer and Finance Support Officer.

The successful candidate will have strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrable knowledge and understanding of developing and implementing financial plans. The Finance Director will need to demonstrate an ability to think and act entrepreneurially, to deliver in high pressure situations and meet deadlines. His or her outstanding interpersonal and communication skills will enable him or her to influence, negotiate and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Whilst it may be helpful for applicants to have experience of financial leadership within an autonomous school environment applications are also invited from professionals who have experience in business and commerce or possess transferable skills gained in sectors other than education.
