Our client, a specialised health and social care business, needs to appoint to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer. The COO will support the Chief Executive Officer and the executive team in the execution of an ambitious business plan.

This is a serious career challenge for a skilled organisational lead manager capable of growing a specialised health and social care business that has impressive credentials in its field and wants to move to another level. Executing; New Business Development Planning, Customer Service; and quality Specialised Service Delivery, the use of systems, processes and technology.

You will support the work of the CEO focusing on the establishment and optimisation of day-to-day operations and the company’s new business development.

You will have excellent skills in the analysis, delivery and management of service provider processes, technology and solutions, developed in a complex customer focused environment.

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Direct Reports: All function leaders responsible will report to the COO including:

  • Customers Service
  • Delivery
  • Communications
  • Sales & New Development
  • Central support Services
  • Accounts and Contract Management

Key responsibilities:

  • Guide the executive management team on implementing key planning issues and make recommendations on important business decisions

  • Strategic planning and resource allocation

  • Process improvement

  • Manage quality improvement strategy implementation, in particular regarding growth, budgets and timelines

  • Ensure quality control of company inputs, output and outcomes as pertains to customer new developments and delivery of services

  • Ensure all Lead Managers are fully informed of operational and strategic objectives

  • Set operational performance goals with each lead responsibility that are aggressive, achievable and tied to the current business and long-term goals

  • Establish and monitor performance reporting systems

  • Monitor performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made

  • Conduct regular meetings with lead responsibilities to ensure that priorities are clear and coordination is good

  • Ensure all activities comply with organisational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care

  • Facilitate resolution of issues between lead roles taking charge in high-priority crises

  • Work with Development colleagues to open new accounts. Develop and enhance new and existing customer and partner relationships

  • Work closely with Quality, Financial and IT administrative teams to ensure corporate control. Practice and encourage ethical business standards

  • Work closely with all business partners to deliver a competitive, effective efficient and lean business model

  • Retain and attract best staff within resources available

Salary: Up to £70,000

Location:  Yorkshire base with national travel as required

  • A wide ranging skill set built on a first class academic background which ideally should include a degree as well as a specialist qualification or further qualification at MBA or MSc level.

  • Focus on new business development, continuous improvement, lean processes Service Provision and technology introduction so your background will need to demonstrate your capabilities in these areas.

  • A skilled communicator, able to influence customers, colleagues and other internal and external stakeholders.

  • Extensive operational with significant sales n/ new business development, customer care specialist service delivery management executive experience.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Extensive experience developing business plans. Possesses the desire and ability to assume control of an opportunity and expand its business.

  • Demonstrate team building experience, with an inclusive collaborative, supportive approach to managing staff.

  • Flexibility with regard to responsibilities.

  • Demonstrates a “Make it happen” can-do attitude and is willing to do what needs to be done to achieve the plan.
