Chief Representative - IIF Regional Office in Dubai
The Institute of International Finance (IIF) is one of the world’s largest global associations of financial institutions with 475 members in 75 countries. We provide economic and financial analysis to our members, serve as a forum for exchanging views and developing proposals on global regulatory issues; and represent our members from the private financial community in discussions with the public sector on global economic and financial policy issues.
This year, the IIF will be opening an office in Dubai in order to deepen our involvement in the Middle East and Africa with a centralized hub for regional activities.
The Chief Representative will be responsible for developing and enhancing relationships with regional financial firms, global financial firms with offices in Africa and the Middle East, and with other key firms and organizations in the region; developing and implementing strategies to encourage membership interaction and increase member retention; helping to identify and address the most important issues facing financial institutions from the perspective of firms in the Middle East and Africa; providing a regular flow of information about policy, regulatory, and economic developments that may be of interest to IIF constituencies; strengthening relationships with leading regional figures in the official sector whose functions are relevant to the IIF work program; organizing regional meetings such as outreach events, regional economic forums, training programs, media events, and regional CEO and CRO meetings; encouraging member firm engagement in the Institute’s regulatory committees and working groups; assisting in arranging meeting itineraries for other IIF staff travelling to the region; and establishing relationships with local and regional media in order to promote media coverage of the IIF.
Applicants should have extensive professional experience in the regional financial services industry (banking, insurance, securities, or their related associations). S/he should also have excellent academic credentials including a master’s degree, preferably in economics, finance, or an international discipline. Flexibility to cover varied subject-matters and work with persons from various disciplines is essential, as is the ability to work on several matters at the same time. Excellent English speaking and writing skills are mandatory. Knowledge of the Arabic and French languages is a plus. Travel in the MENA region and in Sub-Saharan Africa will be required.
