The Post:

This is a strategic Board level post, reporting to the Chief Executive as a member of the Senior Management Team and an Executive Board member. As a senior corporate role, you must be much more than an excellent accountant and work well as part of a strong team to deliver our vision. 

You will have strategic and managerial responsibility for leading on all finance, business planning, performance, contracts and procurement, which will help the DBS to effectively deliver its strategic plan. You’ll also provide professional financial input and support to the Accounting Officer.

This substantial role requires you to ensure the highest standards of financial probity, control and management. You would be responsible for our annual budget of £150 million, as well as direct management of a small specialist team whom you’ll want to ensure have the capability and capacity to deliver our strategic plan. 

The DBS is a member of the Home Office (HO) family, so you will work closely with the HO Finance community, developing shared services as appropriate.

This demanding role will be based in Liverpool with some travel to our Darlington site and to offices of our government colleagues in London. This post is subject to security clearance.

Person Specification:

You will be CCAB/CIMA qualified and have experience of operating as a Finance Director within a complex and substantial entity with Private Sector experience.
