Head of IT Delivery (Intelligent Client)
Senior Management Structure Pay Band 1 (SMS/SCS 1)
Salary – up to £100,000
Location – King Charles Street, London / Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes
3 year fixed term contract
Job description:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is looking to appoint a high performing Head of Intelligent Client who will report directly to the Chief Information Officer.
The FCO has outsourced the majority of its IT provision to a number of suppliers; key amongst these are those providing network services, desktop & infrastructure services, application services and overseas support. To be successful as the Head of the Intelligent Client Department, will require you to build influential relationships, at a senior level, with these suppliers and key users. These users will represent both the FCO and Partners Across Government (PAGs) and you will be responsible for understanding their requirements and concerns and ensuring these are taken into consideration in the planning of changes to technology, services, service levels and applications.
You will, initially, need to build the Department which you will lead. Whilst it is anticipated that most of the roles will be filled from the current Information & Technology Directorate, your input into final specification and selection will be key. The prime responsibility of your Department will be to ensure that a successful and mutually productive relationship is built with the Service Management Integrator (SMI), the procurement of which is currently well advanced.
Your department will be responsible for overseeing the service delivery and programme management provided by the SMI ensuring that their performance is measured and necessary corrective actions are taken. The department will also support future IT related business change, ensuring that the predicted benefits are realised. You will be responsible for an annual budget above £60M.
This will be a challenging Senior Civil Service role. The SMI concept is still in its infancy and the jobholder will have the opportunity to demonstrate the flexibility which will be required to work with commercial partners to manage complex organisational change.
The job will provide plenty of opportunities for change management, building a team, supplier management and customer service all of which will challenge and enhance your technical, leadership, communication and influencing skills.
